A resurgent Medvedev won his first title for nearly 30 months with success over opponent Moutet in the competition title decider.

Medvedev, a former number one, has had a challenging period, achieving just one win at the big events and suffering a setback at the American major.

His inconsistency on the tennis tour - and difficulties with his service game in particular - led to him exiting of the elite rankings and eventually separating with former trainer his previous coach.

Now working with Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, he has steadily improved in the past month - climaxing in a tightly fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 victory over challenger Moutet.

This represents Medvedev's maiden trophy after the 2023 Rome Masters and first on a hard court since that period of that year.

Success also signifies he has secured twenty-one titles at twenty-one various events.

"It's the first time I have attended a competition with my two daughters at once, so to secure a title is particularly special," commented tennis professional the champion.

"This title is in honour of my child my daughter, because the first title I got when my older daughter her name was born was for her."

Medvedev, the former major winner, had been defeated in his past six championship matches, comprising in the German tournament previously this season.

Medvedev's counter-punching strategy and regular outbursts on the playing surface had led some to doubt if his capacity to play at the elite level was finished.

But the 29-year-old has altered his approach in the past month, making an effort to advance forward and play positively, supported by an better serve.

Medvedev came back from a deficit in the initial set against the challenging Moutet, taking 4 of the last five exchanges to go ahead.

The competitors traded breaks in the middle set before Moutet, bidding for his initial tour title, seized the initiative to push for a third set.

Moutet saved four initial chances in a competitive deciding set before the champion broke to 15 to secure the win.

Fittingly, the winner earned the title with a point at the net, with his opponent unable to manage a volley after over two and a half hours.
